Big Love For Hoskins Funerals Direct

“By your side every step of the way”

Meet Carole Clayton, the owner of Hoskins Funerals Direct.

One of the first things we want to mention about Carole is how caring and compassionate she is. No one ever wants to engage with a Funeral Director, but when those times do sadly come, Carole will be there with a listening ear supporting you through it all.

Hoskins Funerals Direct can support you with all aspects of funeral planning, offering funerals, burials, cremations, unattended Cremations (aka Direct Cremations) Memorials, Interment of Ashes and celebrancy.

Whether you want a cremation or a church funeral or even a service at an alternative venue in Worcester or the surrounding areas, Hoskins Funerals Direct can arrange this for you.

They have their own Chapel of Rest where you can pay your respects, peacefully. Carole believes every funeral is unique and should reflect a life well lived, while helping those left behind come to terms with their bereavement and grief.

Carole comments “As Funeral Directors and Undertakers it is an honour to be asked to arrange the final journey for someone that you hold dear to you. We are happy to discuss different faith services and also repatriating your loved one to their homeland”

As part of Big Love For Small Business we asked Carole the following …

Why did you start your business?

I bought the business from another Funeral Director who was downsizing. I had supported the industry for many years and the time was right to develop the Worcester Funeral Home. Coming to it later in life gave me the mindset, empathy and skills to grow the business over the next few years.

What motivates you to keep going in your business?

The satisfaction of helping families at one of the saddest times of their lives and walking beside them as they say goodbye to a loved one. Keeping it simple, not stressing the family members and listening to their wishes and finally seeing the relief on their faces when the service happens.

What are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced as a business owner?

Coming into an area that is new to me (as in Worcester City from a Rural Market Town) and ‘competing’ with the corporates.

What are some of your proudest wins or achievements in your business journey?

We have won Awards that are obviously a great incentive for the team as well as being a good promotional tool. Every satisfied family, every thank you card is a win for the business as a whole.

What advice would you give to someone thinking about starting their own business?

Do it! Don’t put yourself in the position of regretting not doing it.

What do you love doing in your free time?

Reading when I’m not caring for my disabled husband.

What do you love most about our community?

The support from other business women which is difficult to get in an industry such as Funerals as most people would rather not think of death as an industry and vocation.

If you want a support network join and make the most of the benefits as well as being prepared to share skills, knowledge from your business that can help others.
