Why did you start your business?
With years of experience as an electrician and also having extra qualifications such as fire alarms my husband decided it was time to become his own boss and have a choice around the jobs he wanted to do. In 2017 he did this and I joined him full time in the business in 2023. We made this decision for various reasons but we mainly wanted to have more flexibility and have a better work life balance for ourselves and our young children.
What motivates you to keep going in your business?
Building something for my children to be proud of and being able to have the opportunity to take over in the future if they choose to.
What are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced as a business owner?
As a business owner the biggest challenges I’ve faced are time and organisation. Having always worked for other people with a structured to do list handed to me daily one of the biggest challenges has been organising my own to do list and making sure I have everything organised so I can fit it all into my day.
What are some of your proudest wins or achievements in your business journey?
I’m proud that I have found my own niche in the business and trained to have my own part of the business. I have completed training to completely change what I was doing and take a new direction so I could both go out onsite and work from home.
What advice would you give to someone thinking about starting their own business?
Go for it! There is never going to be the perfect time to start so don’t put it off or let the fear win, just do it.
What do you love doing in your free time?
In my free time I enjoy spending time with my family, we love being outdoors so walks with the dog or outdoor activities. I love crochet and any type of crafting. I also enjoy music and a great true crime series!
What do you love most about our community?
The Women Who Business Community is so welcoming and up lifting. Everyone is so friendly and all cheer each other on and give great advice and share so much knowledge and experience.
One of my first experiences with The Women Who Business Community was attending the 2024 Business Development Day. I was overwhelmed by everyone’s kindness and the positivity in the room. There were so many fantastic businesses exhibiting and some really insightful talks and Q&A sessions. I also picked up my brand name “The Purple PAT Tester” there.
