DAY 1 Mental Health First Aider Course with Garrett Learning

Mental Health First Aid Training with Garrett Learning
Mental health challenges can affect any of us, at any time and as business owners, employers, colleagues and members of our wider communities, knowing how to respond can make a real difference.
Recognising when someone may be struggling is one thing. Knowing what to say, how to support them and where to direct them for further help is another.
That’s why we’re working in partnership with Wendy Garrett of Garrett Learning to give Women Who members access to Mental Health First Aid training at a significantly reduced rate.
Taking place in person on Monday 19th and Tuesday 20th October at Regus, Kidderminster, this 2 day course will give you the knowledge, practical skills and confidence to recognise the signs of poor mental health, start supportive conversations and help someone access appropriate support.
Exclusive Women Who Member Rate
The course would usually cost £325 per person, but through our partnership with Garrett Learning, Women Who members can book for just £200 — a saving of £125.
Whether you employ a team, work closely with clients and customers, support others through your business, or simply want to feel better equipped when someone around you is struggling, these are skills that can have an impact far beyond the workplace.

What will the course cover?
This practical and interactive 2 day course will equip you with the skills and confidence to become a Mental Health First Aider (MHFAider®).
Throughout the training, you’ll learn how to:
- Recognise the signs that someone may be experiencing poor mental health and provide first-level support
- Feel more confident starting supportive conversations and practice active listening and empathy
- Understand common mental health challenges including anxiety, depression, eating disorders, self-harm, substance misuse and psychosis
- Understand how to respond when someone may be experiencing a mental health crisis, including suicidal thoughts
- Use the MHFA ALGEE Action Plan to guide conversations and appropriate support
- Signpost someone towards professional help and other sources of support
- Understand the boundaries and confidentiality involved in being a Mental Health First Aider
- Look after your own mental health and practice self-care while supporting others.
And importantly, the support doesn’t end when the 2 day course does. On completion, you’ll receive your certificate plus three years’ access to the MHFAider Support App®, giving you 24/7 digital support, resources, ongoing learning opportunities and tools to help you continue developing your confidence as an MHFAider®.
