Menopause New Year; Why March is better
Blog post written by member, Vikki Hobson of Juicy Menopause.
Welcome to 2026! As the calendar flips, the world suddenly erupts with “New Year, New You” energy. The gyms are overcrowded, the diet industry is shouting, and everyone seems to be making high-pressure resolutions.
If I’m honest, that has never really worked for me and if you are navigating perimenopause or menopause, it might not work for you either. During this transition, our energy isn’t a constant line; it’s a series of ebbs and flows. Forcing a “sprint” in the deepest, darkest month of the year often leads to burnout before the first snowdrops appear.

The Self-Sabotage Circle
January in the UK is prime season for winter germs. It is so easy to start the month with the best of intentions, only to find yourself in bed with the flu three days later. When we are already dealing with menopause fatigue, falling ill can trigger a “self-sabotage circle.”
We think, “I can’t be bothered,” or “I’ve failed already,” and we give up on our health goals entirely. This cycle of “trying and failing” is exhausting. Furthermore, the cupboards are often still full of festive treats. My advice? Don’t bin them and feel deprived—enjoy them! Let’s finish the treats with kindness rather than guilt.
The Four P’s: Pause, Plan, Prepare, and Pace
I find that January and February are much better served by moving slowly and intentionally. Instead of a frantic “overhaul,” let’s embrace the four P’s
💜 Pause: Give your nervous system a break. The impact of menopause symptoms can be draining; use this time to simply be without a “to-do” list.
💜 Plan: Reflect on how you want to feel this year. What does “Juicy” look like for you in 2026? Use these quiet weeks to journal your desires.
💜 Prepare: Slowly restock your kitchen with nourishing foods and look for movement that feels like a treat, not a chore.
💜 Pace: This is the secret to avoiding the mid-January crash. By pacing your energy now, you are storing up reserves for when the world speeds up again.
Warming Your Body from Within
Instead of cold salads and restrictive detoxes, think about nourishing your body with warmth. This is the perfect time for high-vitamin, cold-pressed juices to boost your immunity against those winter bugs.
Focus on healthy, vibrant soups and one-pot meals filled with warming spices like ginger, turmeric, and cinnamon. These aren’t just delicious; they are powerful anti-inflammatories that can help soothe menopause joint pain and stiffness.
If you find that caffeine is playing havoc with your anxiety or night sweats, why not forget the coffee for a while? Try a spicy Chai latte or a “Golden Milk” (a turmeric-based latte). These drinks are deeply comforting, help to settle the nervous system, and feel like a warm hug in a mug.

Finding Joy in the Quiet
This is the season for “hygge” snuggling under fleecy blankets and enjoying the scented glow of candles. It’s a time for good books and gentle stretching exercises that move your joints without overtaxing your adrenals.
Take a moment to connect with nature from your window. Feeding the birds can bring such a simple, grounding joy to your morning. And while the gyms are packed and sweaty, a nice, gentle walk in the crisp air can lift your mood and provide essential Vitamin D without the “gym anxiety” that often comes with perimenopause.
March: The True New Beginning
For me, the real new beginning starts in March. By then, the festive temptations have naturally gone, and the lighter spring days are finally on their way.
Spring is nature’s natural time for growth and renewal. When the daffodils start to peek through, your energy will naturally begin to rise in tandem with the world around you. By waiting until March to start your “new” routines, you are working with your hormones and the seasons, rather than against them.
