Meet Rebecca Widdowson, Managing Partner at HWH Law (formerly Hallmark Whatley Hulme).

Rebecca trained and qualified as a solicitor at Hallmark Hulme in 1996. After that she moved to a law firm in Birmingham, before returning back to HWH Law, becoming a Partner in 2008 and Managing Partner in 2014. She is also the firm’s Compliance Officer and Money Laundering Reporting Officer.

Previously a litigator, Rebecca has developed her private client practice and now acts for clients exclusively in relation to administration of Estates, Wills and LPAs.

In addition to this she is Chair of Governors at Tudor Grange Academy Worcester and Tudor Grange Primary Academy Perdiswell. She is also Vice President and Disciplinary Officer of Worcester Rugby Football Club having been one of the founding members of the women’s rugby team over 30 years ago.

What motivates you to keep going in your business?

Delivering excellence service to clients offering expertise, practical advice at a reasonable cost.

What are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced as a business owner?

COVID – just keeping the doors open and providing vital services during this time was extremely challenging. Currently recruitment and retention of trained staff is difficult and providing a friendly and welcoming workplace is key

What are some of your proudest wins or achievements in your business journey?

Becoming the first female managing partner of the business, driving growth and expertise, achieving industry quality standards recognising excellent service and management.

What advice would you give to someone thinking about starting their own business?

Plan, revisit, plan, assess, plan … and understand the skills you need in yourself and others to grow.

What do you love doing in your free time?

I love sport, especially rugby, tennis, weights, running and cycling and have taken part in many endurance challenges for charitable causes. This explains why I am always tired!

What do you love most about our community?

Collaboration – we are all here to support each other. It’s a great network to be part of with a wide range of services, products and most importantly knowledge.  There is always someone to help and guide in a supportive way.
