Big Love For A Helping Han

Meet Hannah Wooldridge, the founder of A Helping Han.

Sometimes … all you need is a helping han!

Hannah is a high-performing specialist virtual assistant with a powerhouse blend of skills in general admin, podcast production, and estate agency support. She’s the kind of all-rounder who frees up your time, sharpens your operations, and opens up new possibilities for your business.

With the adaptability to handle anything you throw at her, and the dedication to deliver work that meets the highest standards, she’s the behind-the-scenes partner that keeps projects moving, clients impressed, and your business growing.

Once you’ve worked with her, you’ll wonder how you ever managed without her.

For over 10 years, she’s worked in fast-paced industries where organisation communication results were non-negotiable. Now, she channels that experience into specialist freelance support that frees up your time and gives your business the consistency, professionalism and impact it deserves.

As part of Big Love For Small Business, we asked Hannah the following …

Why did you start your business?

I started my business because I saw a gap: there are so many incredible small businesses out there with great stories to tell, but the podcasting world can feel expensive and inaccessible unless you’re a big brand with a big budget. I didn’t think that was fair. Podcasts are one of the fastest-growing marketing tools, and I believe every business (no matter the size) should have the chance to use them to grow their brand and connect with their audience.

On the Virtual Assistant side, I started because I genuinely love helping people lift the weight of overwhelm. I’ve seen first-hand how much of a difference it makes when business owners can finally focus on what they love doing instead of constantly chasing admin or feeling stretched too thin. There’s something really fulfilling about knowing I can be that right-hand person that brings calm, clarity and structure to their day.

What motivates you to keep going in your business?

The feedback I get from clients genuinely keeps me motivated. Hearing someone say, “I feel lighter” or “you’ve taken such a weight off my shoulders” never gets old. It’s knowing that I’m not just completing tasks but I’m making their lives easier, helping their businesses grow, and freeing them up to do what they’re best at.

It’s even more rewarding when the work I do has a positive ripple effect; for example, when I’m helping a client in the wellbeing or ethical business space, or when I’m producing a podcast that inspires others and has a greater good effect on the world. That sense of contribution and purpose is what really fuels me.

What are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced as a business owner?

As a fairly new business owner, the biggest challenge has been learning how to juggle everything all at once! Client work, marketing, finances, networking, growth – it’s a lot!

When you first start out, there’s no one else to delegate to, so you have to wear every hat and figure things out as you go.

It’s been a steep learning curve at times, especially when you want to do everything to a really high standard. But every challenge has helped me build confidence and systems that now make things run much more smoothly. I’ve learned to celebrate the small wins, lean on my community, and remind myself that everyone starts somewhere – it’s all part of building something that’s truly mine.

What are some of your proudest wins or achievements in your business journey?

One of my proudest moments has been working with an Apple Top 10 Careers Podcast to help them move into their next growth phase for 2026. Being trusted to play a part in something that’s helping thousands of people find meaningful work has been such a privilege. It’s exactly the kind of impact I hoped to have when I started – using storytelling to inspire others and make professional content more accessible.

Another highlight has been working with clients in the spiritual and wellbeing space. I’m really drawn to that world personally, so it’s lovely to be able to contribute to projects that align with my own values. Helping these kinds of businesses grow feels so aligned and rewarding.

What advice would you give to someone thinking about starting their own business?

Honestly, just go for it. You can plan and prepare forever, but the truth is, you’ll never feel 100% ready and you just have to start. You’ll figure it out along the way and there will be messy moments, but once you take the plunge you’ll never go back!

The most important thing I’ve learned is that you are qualified enough. There will always be people out there who need what you do, exactly how you do it. And once you take that first step, you’ll be amazed at how much you grow both personally and professionally. Starting this business has been one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.

What do you love doing in your free time?

I’m a total cat person and a huge travel lover – I worked in the cruise industry for several years, so exploring the world is a NEED, not a want! I’ve been lucky enough to visit over 60 countries, and that experience has made me really appreciate how different cultures live and work. Outside of that, I’m big into reading, self-development, and (unsurprisingly) listening to podcasts. I’m also a bit of a history nerd, I love learning about how people lived in the past and how much it influences the world we live in now.

What do you love most about our community?

What I love most about The Women Who Business community is how genuine it is. There’s no judgement, or competition, it’s just women who “get” it. Running a business can be lonely at times, and this group makes it feel like you’ve always got someone in your corner.

I love how much knowledge is shared so freely, and how every member brings something completely unique to the table. You’ll find yourself learning about industries you never even knew existed! For me, it’s been a place to grow, collaborate, and feel part of something bigger.

Do you have any stories that you’d wish to share about your time with The Women Who Business Community?

Absolutely! The Women Who Business community has genuinely been a game-changer for me. In just over three months of being a member, I’ve had a personal branding photoshoot and training day with the amazing Vanda Szabo, got some herbal remedies from Hannah Charman for a medical issue, received hypnotherapy from Louise Squires, and made some brilliant friends along the way.

It’s also completely shifted my mindset. When I first joined, I still saw myself as “just starting out” as a small business owner but being surrounded by so many supportive, knowledgeable, and kind women made me realise that I do actually belong in this world of entrepreneurship. Everyone here truly wants to see you succeed. I’ve even met members for coffee who’ve given up their time to help me shape my business plans for the year ahead and that level of generosity is rare and something I really appreciate.

What would you say to someone considering joining our community?

I’d say don’t even hesitate! For £15 a month, the value you get is incredible. The workshops, networking, and opportunities are amazing, but the real magic is in the people. You’ll meet so many talented, down-to-earth women who will cheer you on and help you grow in ways you didn’t expect.

It’s a business networking community but it’s also a place to build confidence, connections, and genuine friendships. Joining was one of the best business decisions I’ve made this year.
