Big Love For Kingsway House
Meet Sue Johns, Director at Kingsway House and Author of ‘Leaving Ukraine’.
Sue Johns is an inspirational figure with a wealth of knowledge and experience in developing successful businesses.

Beyond her professional achievements, she is known for her warmth, generosity, and genuine belief in people. Supporting others comes naturally to Sue, and she is deeply passionate about giving back to her community and championing local causes.
Her compassion shines through in abundance in her recently published book ‘Leaving Ukraine’, an inspiring and moving account of how she helped dozens of refugees find safe and welcoming homes here in the UK.
You can purchase the book HERE or here: www.foregatepublishing.co.uk or by calling in at Kingsway House, Foregate Street, Worcester.
As part of Big Love For Small Business we asked Sue the following …
What does your business offer?
Meeting rooms, serviced offices, hot-desking and business event space.
Why did you start your business?
Kingsway House Business Centre launched in 2020 after our previous business, an executive language school, was killed off by the pandemic.
What motivates you to keep going in your business?
The pride in providing an excellent and useful service for local businesses.
What are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced as a business owner?
The uncertainty of business resulting in peaks and troughs. Sometimes we have to turn business away as we are fully booked, other times the building is half empty.
What are some of your proudest wins or achievements in your business journey?
1) Kingsway House was virtually unknown in 2020 as our previous business had worked only with international clients. Within months of starting up, and with the pandemic still affecting business, we became the place to go to for meetings and for anyone needing a break from working from home.
2) In the past 5 years we have raised thousands of pounds for charity from organising networking events.
What advice would you give to someone thinking about starting their own business?
Don’t start a business to make money; start a business because you love the thing you want to do. You will have to work long hours for little or no money whilst you get established, so it’s important to enjoy what you are doing.
What do you love doing in your free time?
Walking, reading, learning languages, playing online Scrabble.
What do you love most about our community?
It’s a friendly, supportive environment and a refreshing contrast to the blokey-ness of some other networking groups.
Do you have any stories that you’d wish to share about your time with The Women Who Business Community?
Kingsway House hosts the Worcester group and we have been pleased to play our part in its success. Every person who comes to the meeting sees our lovely premises and we get to meet a wide range of entrepreneurial local women. Win-win!
What would you say to someone considering joining our community?
If you’re a woman in business, you won’t find a friendlier or more supportive group.
