Big Love For Sail Mortgages
Meet Lisa Neath, the founder of Sail Mortgages.

Lisa Neath’s career has spanned a lifetime in financial services; from her early days in admin work to mortgage underwriting for Nationwide Building Society and going on to supporting over 300 mortgage advisors across a range of areas before deciding to go independent and launch Sail Mortgages.
Approachable and accessible, positive and proactive, stable and familiar, enthusiastic and realistic, Lisa embodies the belief that financial services can be truly welcoming.
Mortgages may seem intimidating, but Sail Mortgages offers a warm, supportive service designed to make every client feel at ease. Whether you’re a first-time buyer, home mover, looking to remortgage, exploring buy-to-let, second mortgages or product switching, Lisa can guide you through it all. Lisa works with individuals with adverse credit and feels passionately that everyone deserves the right to own their own home, even when life throws them a curve ball. Lisa is always trying to raise awareness of the importance of insurance and how it can act as a lifeline when you need it the most.
Lisa is the definition of a people person. She loves helping clients with one of life’s most important decisions; finding the right mortgage so they can move into their dream home. Her passion for both her work and her clients shines through in every conversation.
We love Lisa’s openness and her passion for making people feel more confident and at ease when it comes to important financial decisions. She refers to being a ‘safe pair of hands’ and that’s exactly what you’ll get.
As part of Big Love For Small Business we asked Lisa the following questions …
Why did you start your business?
“I wanted to banish the myth that mortgage advisors are scary salespeople. My goal was to create a service where clients feel listened to, supported, and never pressured, because buying a home or arranging your finances is stressful enough without someone making you feel like you’re being sold to.”
What motivates you to keep going?
“My clients. The relief on their faces when I say “it’s all sorted” makes it all worthwhile. I love being that safe pair of hands who takes away the overwhelm and helps them move forward. Plus, I get a real buzz when clients recommend me to their family and friends – that trust means everything.”
What are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced as a business owner?
“Finding the balance between running a business, keeping up with ever-changing mortgage rules, and still showing up online as me. I’ve also had to learn to quiet down the inner critic who can be really negative”
What are some of your proudest wins?
“Hearing clients say the process was easier and less stressful than they expected. Watching people who thought they’d never get a mortgage walk into their first home. And building a reputation strong enough that most of my new clients now come from referrals – that’s a huge compliment”
What advice would you give to someone starting their own business?
“Don’t wait until everything’s perfect … it never will be. Just start, learn as you go, and remember: people buy you, not just what you sell”
What do you love doing in your free time?
“Exploring new places in our motorhome, Bessy. National Trust days out, walks with an audiobook, and laughing with friends and family, there is nothing better than a good laugh!”
What do you love most about the Women Who Business community?
“The honesty and support. It’s so refreshing to be around women who cheer you on without competition – just genuine encouragement and understanding.
Having only lived in Kidderminster for 18 months, this network is probably where I’ve met most of the people I now know. Those little friendships have made such a difference to my life. It makes networking feel less networky and more like catching up with supportive friends who truly get what it’s like running a business.”
What would you say to someone considering joining the community?
“Do it! You’ll find inspiration, support, and a safe space to share the highs and lows of running your business. It’s like having your own cheer squad in your corner.”
