Big Love For Back To Life Cancer Support

Meet Samantha Holt, the founder of Back to Life Cancer Support.

Samantha Holt is a specialist Cancer Support Coach and Advanced Practitioner in Emotional Freedom Technique with over 30 years of experience working at a senior level within the NHS as a Clinical Technologist in Nuclear Medicine and Medical Imaging.

Throughout her NHS career, Sam had the privilege of working with a wide range of patients, from age 1 to 100, each with their own story of courage, resilience and hope. The experience left a lasting impression, inspiring her to create a service that offers compassionate, informed, and practical support for those affected by cancer. Her approach combines empathy and evidence-based practice to meet each person exactly where they are.

With her deep understanding of the cancer pathway, including its medical terminology, stages, and treatment processes, Sam recognises just how confusing and traumatic a cancer diagnosis can be. She uses her expertise to guide individuals and families through this journey, helping them make sense of what’s happening and feel supported every step of the way. Her emotional and practical support helps all involved navigate diagnosis, treatment, and just as important … life after cancer.

Whether you’re newly diagnosed, currently undergoing treatment, or finding your footing once treatment ends, Sam can help you process feelings of loss, fear of recurrence, and the challenge of rediscovering your identity. Her work focuses on guiding you to rebuild confidence and purpose in a way that feels right for you.

Sam also supports organisations and companies. She offers tailored training and coaching to help employers understand how to best support team members affected by cancer, whether they are patients themselves or caring for loved ones. Her bespoke sessions can be delivered one-to-one or in group settings, providing workplaces with the tools and understanding to respond compassionately and effectively.

As part of our Big Love for Small Business campaign, we asked Sam the following …

What motivates you to keep going in your business?

“The knowledge that the need is there. The love of what I do. A desire to help people.
I truly believe that every person facing cancer deserves the best possible guidance, care, and support.”

What are some of the biggest challenges you face as a business owner?

“The courage to actually start was a big one. Finances and taxes are still challenging!
Getting noticed, finding clients, and pushing myself into uncomfortable situations, like networking for the first time – have all been part of my journey.”

What are some of your proudest wins and achievements?

“Developing self-belief has been huge for me. My first client review blew me away, it made everything feel real. I’ve also made wonderful friends and built meaningful collaborations.”

What advice would you give to someone thinking about starting their own business?

“It won’t be easy, but you have to trust yourself, your beliefs, and your aspirations.
Surround yourself with supportive people and take all the help and advice you can get.”

What do you love doing in your free time?

“I love crosswords and jigsaw puzzles, walking the dog, and going out and about in our motorhome.”

What do you love most about the Women Who Business Community?

“Support, support, support! There’s no competition or cliques, just genuine encouragement. With such a variety of businesses, there’s always someone to ask for advice.”

Do you have any stories to share from your time with The Women Who Business Community?

“I was so nervous before my first meeting, but I was welcomed and made to feel included right from the start. At one of those early meetings, I met Jo Price, we clicked instantly! I told her about my background as a radiographer and a specific test I used to do for her type of clients. We’ve since become great friends.

I’d also been thinking about doing more for the wider cancer community. I wanted to create something different; focused on education and awareness. Then I met Nicole Hopkins, an amazing lady who shared my vision. Together, we set up a free monthly cancer support group. Each session includes short talks on topics like nutrition, movement, medical terms, mindset, and communication, followed by open discussions. I love working with Nicole and providing this type of meaningful support.”

What would you say to someone considering joining The Women Who Business Community?

“Come along and try it! I’ve attended other networking groups, but Women Who has been the most supportive by far.”
