Mandy is the creative talent behind Mandy’s Home Bakery – where beautiful meets delicious!
Mandy specialises in stunning floral cakes that are perfect for any occasion; from birthdays and weddings to thank-you gifts or simply a little treat for yourself. Each cake is a true work of art, with a limitless combination of flowers and flavours to choose from.
Her passion for baking started at an early age, and after retiring from a 36 year career in nursing, she’s spent recent years honing in on her craft, attending several masterclasses with experts in floral buttercream art. Inspired by the beauty of her own garden, Mandy often incorporates floral and foliage details into her designs, ensuring every creation is as unique as it is delicious.

What motivates Mandy to keep going?
“I love the process of creating beautiful cakes that bring delight to people. I get huge satisfaction knowing my cakes taste as good as they look. I often step back, smile and think … I made that!”
The challenges of business ownership
Like many small business owners, Mandy admits she’s learning as she goes:
“I’d never run a business before, so finding out what I was good at was hard. The direction I thought I wanted to take changed once I discovered what I truly enjoyed creating. I’m still evolving, learning what sells, what doesn’t, and what’s profitable.”
Proudest achievements
“It’s still early days, but my proudest moments are when I get messages from customers saying how bowled over they are by not just by how the cakes look, but how they taste.”
Mandy’s advice for anyone starting a business:
“Have a clear idea of who your ideal client is – I didn’t at first! And make sure you love what you’re doing, because it’s bloody hard going at times.”
Outside the bakery
When she’s not creating edible works of art, Mandy loves walking with her ladies’ groups, knitting, sewing gifts for family and friends, going to gigs, and spending time with her bonkers springer spaniel, Rosie!
