PITCH PERFECT

We are delighted to be collaborating with Wendy of Garrett Learning to deliver a series of sessions we’ve called Pitch Perfect to help members boost their confidence and increase their skills in the area of presenting and pitching.

Here’s Wendy’s recent blog highlighting her take aways from delivering the first Pitch Perfect session last month;

It Was FUN! It Was IMPACTFUL! It Was PITCH PERFECT!

I’ve often been told that I ‘hold the room well’ when I speak to a room of people or facilitate a course/workshop.

When Lisa Lloyd, the Managing Director of an awesome networking group, Women Who UK Business Network, approached me to share my knowledge with the network, I jumped at the chance!

I was in my element delivering Pitch Perfect to a group of business owners. I loved supporting the people in the room to receive the following feedback: Wonderful course very informative very well delivered thank you Wendy!”

Phew! I’m glad it was ‘well delivered!’

For me, the key to delivering a session is always to enjoy it! You don’t need to know ALL the answers, it’s not as scary as it may seem and people are in the room with you because they want to be there!

Bring everyone together, lean on others and learn from their experiences. That’s what we did!

I haven’t always liked/enjoyed being ‘center stage’, at school I was fairly quiet and shy, blended in and lacking in confidence.

My outlook on life changed slightly when I went on my first holiday abroad at the age of 12 to Spain. I can remember that we holidayed with Cosmos and stayed at the Clipper hotel in Lloret De Mar! We travelled 30 hours on a coach from the UK and were greeted by some ladies with a clipboard, a big smile and living in the sunshine! It was then that I decided I wanted to become a holiday rep.

This career pathway shaped the options I took at high school; Geography and Spanish. I went to College to study Travel and Tourism and in 2002 I packed my suitcase and started my first season for First Choice in Mojacar, Spain. I flew there this time!

I loved talking to people, welcoming people at the airport, running the fun and informative welcome meetings and handling more complaints than I ever imagined! Whatever interaction I had with the holidaymakers my aim was to always ensure they had the best holiday possible and make it a memorable experience for them, just as I experienced my first holiday as a child.

Being a holiday rep gave me a unique set of interpersonal skills that have helped me throughout life; communicating with people from different backgrounds and countries, managing difficult situations, and thinking on my feet! Solve problems, manage challenging situations and keep a cool head!

In 2012 I retrained to become a qualified trainer/assessor as I love the education space, supporting and encouraging others where I have honed my skills on how to support others, grow and encourage people to get the most out of themselves.

I’m a lifelong learner, this year I will be completing the ILM Level 5 in Coaching to continue the great work that I do and provide an even better level of service to those I support.

We’d love to welcome you at the next Pitch Perfect!

“A really helpful session covering both the strategy/planning and practical considerations and exercises in order to deliver a great pitch or session.”

We will be running sessions throughout the year with the network. Our next collaborative session is running in Kidderminster on Tuesday 29th April 2025. Secure your seat now CLICK HERE
